Jessie Laura b. 1987 is an art director and mixed media artist. Born in Lima, Perú. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design. Laura moved to New York and now works as a freelance designer, and artist. She creates analog collages, which she has recently began exhibiting throughout NYC. She became a member of the Brooklyn Collage Collective in 2017.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My work explores the workings of the mind and the tension/contrast between two subjects that come from different original concepts. My collage work is the result of the reassemblage of old and contemporary magazines and books, oil painting and mirrors, all this elements carefully placed on the space in addition to the use of depth, light and shadow. Through my work I balance the functionality with the aesthetic value of the image, creating memorable visuals that make a connection with the viewer.
